Jack Rodwell is reportedly training with former club Everton after failing to earn a contract with Premier League rivals Watford.
The 27-year-old has spent the past few weeks on trial with the Hornets and was tipped to land a short-term deal with Javi Gracia's men.
According to the Liverpool Echo, however, Rodwell is now back with boyhood club Everton, where he spent the first five years of his senior career, after failing to do enough to impress Gracia.
However, the report indicates that the three-cap England international is not in line for a contract at Goodison Park, but is instead being given the chance to maintain his fitness ahead of the new campaign.
Rodwell was released by Sunderland at the end of last season following their relegation to League One.
