Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to sign a 'world-class' centre-back during this summer's transfer window, according to a report.

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly keen to bring a 'world-class' centre-back to the club this summer.

The Toffees will face Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday, while they are currently seventh in the Premier League table, five points off fourth-placed Chelsea.

Ancelotti is again expected to be backed with funds in this summer's transfer window, and according to Football Insider, the Italian wants to sign a central defender of 'world-class' stature.

The report claims that the Everton manager is not currently satisfied with his options in the middle of the defence and is keen to secure an upgrade in the upcoming market.

Ancelotti could allegedly have as much as £100m to spend ahead of next season, and a defender of a similar standing to Virgil van Dijk and Ruben Dias will be targeted.

The Toffees, who have lost their last two in the Premier League to Chelsea and Burnley, will follow Saturday's FA Cup clash against Pep Guardiola's side with a league fixture at home to Crystal Palace on April 5.
