Everton and Montpellier are reportedly locked in a battle to sign Le Havre striker Ryan Mendes.

Everton look set to battle Montpellier HSC for the signature of Le Havre striker Ryan Mendes, reports suggest.

The 22-year-old, who has seven caps for Cape Verde, has scored eight goals in nine starts for the Ligue 2 outfit this season.

According to talkSPORT, David Moyes is looking to tie up a £1.5m deal for Mendes after receiving favourable reports from his scouting team.

However, La Pallaide are reportedly hoping that the lure of Ligue 1 football will persuade the striker to remain in France.

Mendes, who is also said to be of interest to Lille, joined Le Havre in 2008.
