Tom Davies: "I will play anywhere"

Young Everton midfielder Tom Davies vows to demonstrate his versatility as he looks to nail down a first-team place this season.

Young Everton midfielder Tom Davies has said that he will play in any position required as he looks to nail down a place in the first team this season.

The 19-year-old was named as the Toffees' young player of the season last term after a breakout campaign which saw him make 24 Premier League appearances and score against Manchester City and Leicester City, the latter of which was the joint-fastest goal of the season.

This summer has brought a flurry of new faces to Goodison Park, including the high-profile captures of Wayne Rooney, Davy Klaassen and Michael Keane, but Davies has vowed to demonstrate his versatility and force his way into Ronald Koeman's plans.

"It can't do me any harm if I can play in different positions," he told the Liverpool Echo. "Playing wing-back [in the Europa League last week] was different to playing in midfield, it was tough in midweek and it was another test being back in the middle [against Sevilla]. Wherever I'm asked to play, I'm happy to do the job.

"I enjoy playing in midfield mainly but, of course, I'm happy to play at full-back if I'm asked - it's just a privilege to be on the pitch playing for Everton.

"Anywhere the manager wants me to play, I'll do it."

Davies penned a new deal with Everton last summer, keeping him at the club until 2021.
