Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini has said that he is looking forward to playing in his preferred position as a defensive midfielder next season.

The Belgium international has been used largely further forward under Blues boss David Moyes this season, but feels that the Scot's departure to Manchester United could signal the beginning of him slotting back into his favoured role.

"I'm happy with my season, although I didn't play in my best position," Goal.com quotes Fellaini as saying.

"I'm not a number 10. David Moyes predicts my future as a defensive midfielder, but due to a lack of offensive power, he plays me up front.

"In the future I want to play as a [number] six or an eight. From there, I can create danger and score goals."

Fellaini joined the Blues from Standard Liege for a club record fee of £15m in 2008.
