Everton defender Sylvain Distin has praised the positive atmosphere currently around the club.

The Toffees have enjoyed a successful season so far, climbing up to fifth place in the Premier League table under new boss Roberto Martinez.

Distin has now credited the team's togetherness both on and off the pitch for their form during the campaign.

"The atmosphere since I have been here has always been amazing and that's very important. One of the strengths is that we are a real team and we enjoy playing and training with each other," the Frenchman told Everton's official website.

"It doesn't mean that we all love each other but we definitely enjoy spending time with each other. You always judge a squad on results so we can talk about it at the end of the season."

Distin recently signed a one-year contract extension at Goodison Park.
