Seamus Coleman aims to carry on scoring

Everton's Seamus Coleman hopes that his goal in the win at QPR gives him the impetus to break his previous best of seven in a season.

Everton defender Seamus Coleman has aimed to break his previous best goalscoring record after ending his barren spell in Sunday's 2-1 win at Queens Park Rangers.

The right-back opened the scoring at Loftus Road for what was his fifth goal this season - and first in nine games - and he now hopes to break his career-best of seven.

"I got seven last season and you always want to do better than you did the previous season," he is quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo.

"That goal puts me on five but most important was winning the game. Before the game I knew I hadn't scored in a while in the league. I was talking with Ross Barkley before the game saying I was due one.

"Thankfully when I got in there I didn't have anything else on my mind but to score and thankfully it went in."

The Toffees, who sit 13th in the Premier League table, have eight games remaining this season.
