Tim Cahill insists he will not retire from international duty with Australia.

Everton midfielder Tim Cahill has revealed that he has no intention of retiring from international football with Australia.

The 31-year-old missed a large amount of last season after suffering an injury on international duty, prompting speculation that Toffees' manager David Moyes was planning to ask his player to call it a day with the national team.

However, Cahill has insisted that he wants to represent his country for many years to come and has set his sights on becoming Australia's all-time top goalscorer.

"I had to fight a massive court case just for the right to play for my country and I won't stop playing until my body stops," Cahill told The Star.

"It's a big thing for us to play for Australia and you do it whenever you can. It has given me some of the best moments of my life and I won't give up on that.

"It is not in my mentality to stop. Would you say to Steven Gerrard or John Terry or any of the top players for England that now you are 31-years-old, will you stop playing for England?

"I am now close to Damian Mori's goal record for Australia and I would love to beat it."

Cahill has 24 goals for Australia, just five shy of Mori's record.
