Leighton Baines: 'John Stones has a huge future'

Everton defender Leighton Baines insists that teammate John Stones will have a "huge future" for club and country.

Leighton Baines has backed Everton teammate John Stones to have a "huge future" for both club and country.

The 20-year-old defender scored his first goal for the Toffees on Sunday during their 3-0 win over Manchester United in the Premier League.

With two England caps to his name already, Baines expects Stones to go from strength to strength in the coming years.

"He is going to continue to grow and develop as a player and he is going to be a top player for Everton and England," the left-back is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"He has got a huge future ahead of him at international level because not only is he a top-class defender but because of his composure as well. You need a bit of that at international level. You need to be able to play and when you look at the young centre-halves around the country, John is the best in that respect."

Stones is likely to be part of the England squad for this summer's Under-21 European Championship in the Czech Republic.
