Alan Pardew throws his hat in the ring for the Everton manager's job following the sacking of Marco Silva, although David Moyes remains the favourite.

Alan Pardew has thrown his hat in the ring for the Everton manager's job following the sacking of Marco Silva.

The Portuguese coach was let go on Thursday in the aftermath of the Toffees' 5-2 defeat to Liverpool, their third loss in a row and a result that keeps them in the relegation zone.

Speaking on Amazon Prime following the former Watford manager's dismissal, Pardew said: "They're in danger of being in a relegation scrap. There's a lot of managers like myself who could do that kind of job."

The former Crystal Palace manager has been out of work since leaving West Bromwich Albion in April 2018.

Former Everton boss David Moyes is currently thought to be favourite for the vacant job, with River Plate coach Marcelo Gallardo also believed to be a leading contender.
