Good morning! Everton manager Roberto Martinez will be speaking to the media shortly as he prepares his side for the visit of Manchester City on Sunday. Both sides are unbeaten so far this season.

Having dropped points against league newcomers Watford on the opening day of the season, Everton bounced back at St Mary's, led by a Romelu Lukaku brace. The Toffees face a stern test this weekend though, hosting a side that have beaten Chelsea and West Brom 3-0 in their fixtures so far.

As well as being asked about the potential departure of John Stones, Martinez is likely to face questions about new signings. Alex Song, Dries Mertens and Charlie Austin are among the names being linked with a move to Goodison Park in the last couple of days.

If you want to read all the latest Everton transfer speculation, you can find plenty of stories on the Transfer Talk section.

Don't forget, we'll be bringing you live coverage of this match ahead of kickoff, plus team news, manager reaction, player ratings and loads more, so make sure you join us again on Sunday afternoon to see if Everton can extend their unbeaten start to the campaign.

For Everton, this fixture falls just a couple of days before their first match in the League Cup, as they travel to Oakwell to face Barnsley on Wednesday next week. Martinez won't want to rest players against Man City, but he'll be wary of naming a weaker or inexperienced team for the trip to the League One outfit.

While we're still waiting for the manager, who seems to be running a couple of minutes late, there's also likely to be talk about Andriy Yarmolenko of Dynamo Kiev this morning. The striker has been heavily linked with the switch to Everton, with a bid expected to go in soon.

This is the start of a difficult run of fixtures in the league for Everton, as they travel to Tottenham Hotspur next weekend before facing Chelsea after the international break. After that, it's a trip to Martinez's former club Swansea City, before a run of three straight matches against Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal at the start of the October.

As usual, Martinez should be providing us with the all-important injury news this morning. Everton fans already know that Leighton Baines will be missing for the next three months following ankle surgery.

Right then, the manager is in place and ready to speak, so let's see what's on his mind this week.

Martinez starts with an injury update, confirming: "No knocks from the squad that went to Southampton. Kevin Mirallas is now 100% after not appearing at St Mary's."

Attention quickly turns to John Stones, but the manager insists: "I'm not aware of any transfer request. Any individual matter is not the important issue with City ahead. John will be in the matchday squad. I have no problem picking John."

Martinez is probed further on the Stones situation, but insists: "There is not a situation, you want to go on and on and on, I can understand. I've said all along, it's not healthy while you have important games when the transfer window is open. The discussion is wrong, we should be talking about Sunday, and the fantastic Goodison atmosphere ahead of facing one of the best team in Europe."

The manager reflects on last week's win over Southampton, telling reporters: "More experience, more maturity. We have a group that keeps developing. The Southampton gave has given us a feel-good factor and shown what we can do. The performance showed a level needed to win games."

Lukaku scored twice in that match, and Martinez says: "There were other players opening space for him, and it became a lot easier for him to have time on the goal. It was a great team performance. When you have a team where everyone carries a threat, when you have Rom in full flow, they're very effective for us."

After requesting to talk about the match rather than John Stones, Martinez gets his way as he's asked about Manuel Pellegrini's side, and he says: "I think Man City are a very good side, first and foremost. We have seen a team that is refreshed. They've added new faces, they're kept the core of the team that wont he league two years ago but they're showing understanding and freshness. They are in a good moment, two 3-0 wins against very good opposition. They signs are that we have to be at our best, but we're looking forward to getting back to Goodison."

A plane flew over St Mary's in protest at the Bill Kenwright regime, but the manager is too worried by the incident. "We are all emotional and we want the same thing, we want to win games. It's highlighting the bigger number, the 3,000 away fans that were ecstatic. We created an incredible celebration that was a side of the majority of fans who show emotions. That was more important."

Martinez is asked about potential new arrivals. He tells the media: "In terms of talking about the squad, it's always better to see what we spend by the last day of th ewindow. It was important to retain the core of the squad that finished fifth two years ago. Being in Europe was vital to become better, and now the signing will add something to that group."

The manager is specifically asked about Yarmolenko, but isn't giving much away, replying: "No. We are going a lot of work. We've highlighted the ideal targets but there's nothing to be announced. Anything we can announce, the fans will be the first to find out. I'm trying to get a new dressing room in case all the names we're being linked with come through."

Sticking with the transfer process, Martinez adds: "As a manager, you need to be involved throughout. Any signings is a game, how they settle in, how the family settles in, there are many aspects that could go against you. It's very easy to sell Everton, our squad and what we want to achieve. From a foreign point of view, the Premier League is an attractive league."

That's all Martinez has to say this week. While the bulk of the questions were on the transfer market, Everton supporters will be pleased to hear that there are no fresh injury concerns for the team.

So, join us again on Sunday to find out if Everton can secure their first home win of the season, or if Man City extend their 100% run. Until then, thanks for joining me this morning. Goodbye.
