Roberto Martinez heaps praise on Romelu Lukaku after Chelsea double

Roberto Martinez singles out Everton striker Romelu Lukaku for particular praise following his double against Chelsea in Saturday evening's FA Cup quarter-final tie.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has hailed the quality of Romelu Lukaku, describing the forward's opening strike against Chelsea as 'one of the all-time great' FA Cup goals.

The Toffees bounced back from recent Premier League disappointment by picking up a 2-0 victory at Goodison Park, thanks largely to Lukaku's brace against his former side.

Martinez was quick to praise the character shown by his squad to deal with the pressure that a cup quarter-final brings with it, while singling out the Belgian for particular plaudits post-match.

"It is a fantastic feeling, more than anything the atmosphere that was created is something every one of us will take away," he told BBC Sport.

"Lukaku's goal was one of the great goals we will see in the FA Cup. We played a great team in Chelsea but we looked a team that was hurting from the weekend loss to West Ham. We had the responsibility to relieve the pain and did that in the last 12 minutes. Today was the complete feeling.

"I am the one bringing expectation and every single player at the club has the right mental character. We wanted to get to Wembley and our chairman deserves that for what he has achieved."

Lukaku has now scored 25 goals this season, including six in his last six outings after today's timely brace.
