England captain Wayne Rooney has reportedly been told that he will not face a Football Association charge following his conduct while on international duty.
The 31-year-old was pictured at the team hotel a day after the 3-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Scotland, with The Sun suggesting that he was drunk at a late-night party.
According to The Mirror, the FA has accepted that Rooney did not attend a wedding party, but was approached by reception guests in the hotel, and that no curfew had been set.
He has reportedly been assured from "high levels within the FA" that he will not be charged, while the governing body will also look into claims that several England players were out until late on the same Saturday night.
Rooney has publicly criticised some of the media coverage of the night, calling it "disgraceful."
