England defender Gary Cahill has lauded teammate Wayne Rooney's contributions in the Three Lions' Euro 2016 qualifier 1-0 win against Estonia, also praising the 28-year-old's goalscoring exploits for the national side.
The Manchester United striker scored a free kick in the second half to give Roy Hodgson's charges all three points in Tallinn, edging closer to Sir Bobby Charlton's goal record in the process.
Cahill told reporters after the game: "Another goal, another step closer for Wayne to the record. I think in tight games like that when things aren't always going that great in front of goal, sometimes you need that added bit of quality, bit of class.
"Wayne brought that with a free kick, a fantastic free kick which got the three points for us."
Rooney now has 43 goals from his 99 Three Lions appearances, six short of Charlton's all-time high tally of 49.
