Derby confirm departure of first-team coach Paul Simpson

Derby County confirm the departure of first-team coach Paul Simpson after 22 months at the iPro Stadium.

Derby County have confirmed that first-team coach Paul Simpson will leave the club on July 1.

The 48-year-old took up the role in September 2013 following the arrival of manager Steve McClaren, who has since left the iPro Stadium to take over at Newcastle United.

A statement by Derby chief executive Sam Rush read: "Paul Simpson leaves Derby County with our thanks for his contribution to the club, both as a player and also on the coaching staff. We wish him every success for the future in his coaching career."

Simpson has been linked with a coaching position alongside McClaren at Newcastle.
