Alan Pardew wants centre-forward in January window

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew reveals that he will attempt to sign a new striker in the January transfer window due to Patrick Bamford's mid-season departure.

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has revealed that he will target a new striker in the upcoming winter transfer window.

Patrick Bamford took the decision to cut his loan spell from Chelsea short on Monday, leaving Pardew short of a centre-forward for the second half of the campaign.

The Palace manager has praised his team's "unbelievable year", but has insisted that no team can afford to stand still and dwell on their success.

"We've had an unbelievable year but you can't stand still in the Premier League. I'd like a striker in the window," Pardew told reporters.

Pardew's need for a striker has also been strengthened due to the current injuries to Connor Wickham, Dwight Gayle and Yannick Bolasie.
