Neil Warnock named new Crystal Palace manager

Crystal Palace name Neil Warnock as their new manager on a two-year deal.

Neil Warnock has made a sensational return to Crystal Palace, becoming manager of the Premier League club for the second time on a two-year deal.

The 65-year-old emerged as a shock contender for the role earlier today after Steve Clarke reportedly fell out of favour.

Warnock, who took charge at Selhurst Park between 2007 and 2010, succeeds Tony Pulis who left the club just two days before the new season got underway.

Former Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay was said to be the preferred man for the job, but he was ruled out of the running last week after the emergence of controversial text messages sent by the Scot.

Palace are currently without a point in the Premier League this season following defeats against Arsenal and West Ham United.
