Crystal Palace will be looking to end a 32-year streak when they play host to Fulham in the Premier League on Boxing Day.

Crystal Palace will be looking to end a streak which has lasted 32 years when they face Fulham in the Premier League on Boxing Day.

The Eagles will be in competitive action for the first time since they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest before the World Cup break.

Having previously lost to Newcastle United in the EFL Cup third round, Patrick Vieira's side ended what had otherwise been a promising period on a low note.

However, despite the double disappointment on their travels, Palace have been a different side when playing fixtures at Selhurst Park.

The London outfit have prevailed past Leeds United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton in their last three outings on familiar territory, the first two wins coming after they had initially trailed their opponents.

Palace have now collected 13 points from seven home fixtures this season, leaving the club in 11th position in the top-flight standings.

At a time when they sit just three points adrift of sixth-placed Liverpool, Palace have an opportunity to make significant headway in the race for a European spot.

Should Palace get the better of city neighbours Fulham on Monday, it will represent the first time since December 1990 that they have registered four home victories in the top flight in a row.

Back then, the Premier League had not been created, Palace instead competing in the Football League Division One, and each of their quartet of triumphs came in the same month.

Palace defeated Coventry City, Luton Town, Sunderland and Liverpool, each of those successes coming by one-goal margins like the wins before the World Cup break.

From Fulham's perspective, they are bidding to avoid a Premier League first after losing their last two fixtures courtesy of goals in the 90th minute or later.

No team in Premier League history has ever suffered three losses in succession due to strikes coming during that period of the game.
