Keshi Anderson in Crystal Palace squad to face Leicester City on Saturday

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew reveals that Keshi Anderson is in the squad to face Leicester this weekend following his move from non-League Barton Rovers.

New Crystal Palace signing Keshi Anderson could be in line to make his debut when the Eagles travel to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City this weekend.

The 19-year-old was a somewhat surprising acquisition by Palace on deadline day, joining the Premier League side from Barton Rovers, who ply their trade seven tiers below the top flight in Southern League Division One Central.

However, manager Alan Pardew insists that the youngster's non-League roots will not count against him when it comes to selection for the first team having scored a six-minute hat-trick for Brentford in a trial match against the Eagles.

"Six minutes isn't bad is it? He's just got a chance, that's what it is. It's an opportunity for him, he trained with us today and I've put him in the squad for Saturday," the Palace manager told reporters.

"It'll be good experience for him to come to see what goes on and his headlights are still full on. I told him to forget where he has come from, to forget about the fee. He's now a Crystal Palace footballer and he'll be classed the same as Jordon Mutch who has cost £4.5m.

"Keshi is a player that came to our attention very late - there was a little bit of interest in him from other clubs. He played against us and just caught our eye. It's a great opportunity for him and a similar route that I took myself so he'll have great, sympathetic eyes from me looking for him to progress."

Anderson had scored 19 goals for Barton Rovers this season before his move.
