Steve Davis delighted with derby dominance

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says that his team thoroughly deserved their 3-1 victory at local rivals Port Vale.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has claimed that his team thoroughly deserved their 3-1 victory at local rivals Port Vale on Saturday.

Mathias Pogba, Brad Inman and Chuks Aneke all scored for the Cheshire outfit, and Davis believes that the latter should have had a hat-trick.

He said: "It was a local derby I enjoyed because we started very well and I thought we were more than full value for the win.

"The way we approached the game was right. The players were brave and I thought that was the way to go. We set out to be very attacking and we should have scored a lot more goals.

"Chuks should have been taking the match ball home with him - we created a lot of chances."

The victory at Vale Park was Crewe's first away win of 2014 and saw them climb to 20th position in the League One table.
