Crawley Town manager Richie Barker has revealed that he is delighted to complete the signing of defender James Hurst.
Hurst joined Icelandic side Valur Reykjavik in May, but he has cut short his time in Scandinavia to return to England and sign for the League One outfit.
Barker told the club's official website: "Right-back was a key position for us when it came to adding to the squad and we're delighted to have James on board.
"He's a terrific defender but he loves to get forward and fits the template of player I want in our squad - someone who is young, athletic with a willingness to learn and improve and a terrific attitude."
The 21-year-old began his career at West Bromwich Albion, before enjoying loan spells at the likes of Birmingham City and Shrewsbury Town.
