National League roundup: Cheltenham Town go top after thrashing Guiseley

Sports Mole rounds up all of Tuesday's English National League action as Cheltenham Town leapfrog Forest Green Rovers at the top of the table.

Cheltenham Town have leapfrogged Forest Green Rovers at the top of the English National League following a 5-0 home thrashing over Guiseley.

The Robins went into the lead in the opening minute thanks to a Billy Waters finish, with Rob Dickie doubling his side's advantage eight minutes later.

Things then went from bad to worse for the visitors just three minutes into the second half, with Adam Lockwood receiving a red card for pulling back the last man before Waters took advantage with his second of the game. Jack Munns and James Rowe finished the scoring in the final 10 minutes.

Forest Green dropped to second after a 1-1 away draw to 18th-placed Welling United, who went ahead through Michael Bakare before Kurtis Guthrie equalised for the visitors.

Dover Athletic remain third despite a 2-1 home defeat to Eastleigh, with two James Constable finishes overcoming the home side, who had equalised through Ricky Modeste.

Grimsby Town picked up their fourth win in six games after beating Barrow 3-1 away at Holker Street, as two Padraig Amond goals and a Joshua Gowling finish overturned a first-half opener from Otis Khan.

Macclesfield Town beat Altrincham 3-0 at Moss Rose, with Kristian Dennis and Danny Whittaker scoring in the first half before a Chris Holroyd finish in the second sealed victory for the Silkmen.

Second-bottom Kidderminster Harriers continued their struggle away to Chester, suffering a 3-1 defeat after a Ross Hannah brace and John Rooney goal cancelled out Kelvin Langmead's opener.

Boreham Wood secured an important 2-1 away win against Bromley with a Luke Howell brace. Moses Ademola threatened a comeback for the home side with a goal shortly before half time, but the guests held on for victory.

Elsewhere, Woking and Braintree Town fought out a 1-1 draw at the Kingfield Stadium, with Sean Marks opening the scoring for the visitors before John Goddard equalised with 12 minutes remaining.
