Wolfsburg director casts further doubt over Andre Schurrle move

Wolfsburg's sporting director reveals that a deal for Chelsea's Andre Schurrle has still yet to be agreed, with time fast ticking down towards the cut-off point.

Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has warned Chelsea that the club will not break the bank in order to sign winger Andre Schurrle.

The 24-year-old's move to his German homeland appeared to be a formality this afternoon, with a £22.5m deal reportedly being agreed between the two parties.

However, having initially thrown the proposed transfer into doubt earlier today, Allofs has now added further pressure on Chelsea, who are looking to offload Schurrle before completing their own move for Juan Cuadrado.

"We want to achieve our goals and that is why we want to sign Schürrle," he told reporters at a press conference. "But we have clear limits, we only go so far and not any further than that."

Asked if the deal could still fall through before tonight's Bundesliga transfer deadline of 5pm, he added: "Sure. Otherwise we would have announced it here."

There are also suggestions that Mohamed Salah's departure from Stamford Bridge has stalled due to a financial dispute between Chelsea and Fiorentina over a fee for the loan move.
