Tottenham Hotspur reportedly make an approach to sign Trevoh Chalobah on loan from London rivals Chelsea.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made an approach over a potential deal to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah.

The centre-back has made 63 competitive appearances during his Chelsea career, but he is expected to find regular playing time hard to come by under Mauricio Pochettino.

Although he has missed the opening month of the season through injury, he may struggle to force his way into the first team when he returns to full fitness, with Pochettino preferring to use Thiago Silva, Axel Disasi, Levi Colwill and Benoit Badiashile.

Chelsea's decision to entertain loan proposals has seemingly led to interest from several clubs, including Bayern Munich and Nottingham Forest.

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel was keen to reunite with a player that he managed during his time at Chelsea as he looked to bolster a defence that has been weakened by Benjamin Pavard's exit.

However, the Bundesliga champions were unable to get a deal over the line before the German transfer window closed at 5pm, UK time.

Forest are also believed to be showing an interest, with the Tricky Trees hoping to recruit Chalobah on a permanent basis rather than a loan move.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea's London rivals Tottenham have now entered the race to sign the 24-year-old.

Spurs have made an approach over a possible loan move, but they are yet to receive a positive response from Chelsea.

Negotiations are understood to be complex due to the rivalry between the two clubs and the 'formula' of a potential deal.

Despite signing Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg earlier this summer, Spurs are still working to bolster Ange Postecoglou's defensive options.

There has been speculation linking defenders Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez with moves away from North London, but the pair are yet to find new destinations.

While Spurs are pushing for Chalobah, Forest are still hoping to secure the defender's signature before the 11pm deadline.

As it stands, the Chelsea academy graduate has not given the green light to complete a move to the City Ground.
