Didier Drogba's representatives reportedly hold talks with Real Madrid after Jose Mourinho outlines his intention to sign the Ivorian.

Real Madrid have reportedly made a surprise offer to sign Didier Drogba.

The 34-year-old will be a free agent this summer after being released by Chelsea.

He had been expected to make a lucrative switch to Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua to link up with former Blues teammate Nicolas Anelka.

However, reports of internal conflicts and instability at the club have given Drogba second thoughts about making the switch to the Far East and Real boss Jose Mourinho has instructed Madrid officials to pursue the Ivorian's signature, according to the Daily Mail.

It is believed that talks have taken place with Drogba's representatives over a two-year contract with the Bernabeu club.
