Real Madrid reportedly identify Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez as an alternative option to Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham.

Real Madrid are reportedly considering Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez as an alternative option if they are unable to sign Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham.

After signing Aurelien Tchouameni in the summer transfer window, Real Madrid are still keen to strengthen their midfield next summer, with a recent report suggesting that Bellingham is one of their main targets.

However, with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City all interested in signing the England international, Los Blancos are also looking at possible alternatives.

According to Marca, Real Madrid have identified Fernandez as a potential option after previously monitoring his progress in his native Argentina before he completed a transfer to Benfica in the summer transfer window.

Fernandez has been a regular starter for Benfica this season, chipping in with three goals and five assists in his 23 appearances for the Portuguese giants.

With the 21-year-old under contract until June 2027, it remains to be seen whether Benfica would be willing to sell Fernandez should Real Madrid come calling at the end of the current season.

Fernandez is currently representing Argentina at the World Cup, where he scored the second goal in a 2-0 win over Mexico on Saturday.
