Juan Antonio Pizzi: 'Lautaro Martinez best suits Barcelona'

Former Barcelona striker Juan Antonio Pizzi feels that the style of the Inter Milan forward is 'best suited' to the Catalan giants.

Juan Antonio Pizzi has claimed that Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez is best suited to representing Barcelona.

Having netted 16 goals in Serie A and the Champions League this season, Martinez has been heavily linked with a switch to the Catalan giants during the next transfer window.

While Manchester City and Chelsea are also said to be monitoring the situation, Pizzi feels that the Argentina international, whom he compares to Sergio Aguero, would elevate his game at Camp Nou.

Speaking to EFE, the ex-Barca frontman said: "He is the prototypical example of how the position of centre-forward has changed in the modern game.

"I see a lot of Sergio Aguero in him. Lautaro has already demonstrated the qualities he has in Argentina with Racing and the national team. I think he is the ideal player; the style he has as a player is the one which best suits Barcelona.

"He also has an advantage in that he has performed at a very high level in the Italian league, which for me is one of the most competitive in the world. Any footballer who excels in Serie A is able to do so anywhere."

Although Martinez still has over three years left on his contract, a release clause is said to be present in the 22-year-old's deal.
