Serie A side Atalanta are reportedly in advanced talks to bring Chelsea left-back Davide Zappacosta back to the club on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

Chelsea full-back Davide Zappacosta is reportedly in talks with Atalanta BC over a possible loan move.

The 28-year-old spent last season on loan at Roma but saw his time at the Stadio Olimpico blighted by injuries which limited him to only nine appearances.

Manager Frank Lampard deems him surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, particularly after the arrival of Ben Chilwell, and Sky Sport Italia reports that he is ready to sanction another loan exit this summer.

Atalanta are thought to be in talks over a season-long deal with an option to buy at the end of the 2020-21 campaign.

Such a switch would see Zappacosta return to his former club, where he was previously on the books in both 2011-12 and 2014-15.

The Italy international made 30 appearances for Atalanta in the latter season before joining Torino and then Chelsea.
