Chelsea 'to make Ben Chilwell leading transfer target'

Chelsea will reportedly target Leicester City's Ben Chilwell in January if they manage to overturn their transfer ban.

Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell will reportedly be a January target for Chelsea should the Blues manage to overturn their transfer ban in time for the winter window.

Chelsea, who were unable to sign any new players ahead of the 2019-20 campaign, are waiting to learn whether their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport has been successful.

According to The Athletic, should the Blues receive positive news then they will be active in the winter market, with Chilwell being identified as a potential arrival.

Neither Marcos Alonso nor Emerson Palmieri have convinced at left-back for Frank Lampard's side this season, and the latter is currently being linked with a return to Italian football.

Chilwell has been in impressive form for Leicester during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring once and providing three assists in 12 Premier League appearances.

The 22-year-old, who has also been linked with Manchester United and Manchester City, has a contract at the King Power Stadium until the summer of 2024.
