Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has revealed that the Spanish outfit will attempt to sign Thibaut Courtois on a permanent deal at the end of the season.
The Belgian has been on loan at the Spanish side from Chelsea since 2011, but is widely expected to return to Stamford Bridge this summer.
A recent report claimed that the 21-year-old had agreed a deal with Real Madrid to join Los Blancos in 2016, but the stopper has since denied those rumours.
"Courtois is an Atletico player until the end of the season. After that, we'll try to sign him if Chelsea want to," Cerezo told AS.
"If he doesn't, we'll look for a formula that will see him continue at Atletico next year."
Courtois is widely regarded as the best young goalkeeper in European football.
