Atletico Madrid reportedly decide to enter the race to sign Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata during the January transfer window.

Atletico Madrid have reportedly identified Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata as a potential signing during the January transfer window.

Morata has scored nine goals for the Blues in all competitions this season, but it appears increasingly likely that the Spaniard will leave Stamford Bridge before the end of the month.

Sevilla are known to hold an interest in the 26-year-old, but The Independent reports that they face competition from La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.

Diego Simeone's side currently sit in second place in the standings, but just 26 goals have been scored from 18 matches with only Antoine Griezmann scoring more than twice in the league.

The report suggests that Atletico and Chelsea could come to a loan agreement with the view of a permanent transfer in the summer.
