Chelsea midfielder Nathan Ake reveals his delight at signing a new long-term contract at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea midfielder Nathan Ake has admitted that he is thankful for the faith that has been placed in him at Stamford Bridge.

Ake has been handed a new five-year contract with the Blues, and the Netherlands Under-19 international has insisted that he will continue to work hard to establish himself at Chelsea.

The 18-year-old told the club's official website: "I'm very happy that Chelsea is rewarding me with a new contract for my effort and development over the last years.

"I would like to thank everybody at the club for everything that they did for me. Thanks to them I have come so far. I won't let them down and I will keep on working as hard as I can."

Ake made six appearances for Chelsea last season.
