Liverpool have reportedly withdrawn their interest in signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes.
The 23-year-old had apparently emerged as one of the Reds' top transfer targets in the wake of injuries to Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
However, Jurgen Klopp has repeatedly played down his side's chances of adding to their midfield ranks before the current transfer window slams shut.
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool now have no interest in striking a deal for Nunes, who would cost in excess of £50m due to a release clause in his contract.
Wolverhampton Wanderers could therefore try to tempt Nunes to Molineux, although the Portugal international supposedly has no interest in linking up with Bruno Lage's side.

Over in the capital, Chelsea's defensive blows have seemingly not come to an end just yet, with Jules Kounde, Matthijs de Ligt and Presnel Kimpembe all snubbing moves to Stamford Bridge.
Marc Cucurella and Kalidou Koulibaly have arrived in West London, and a move for Bayern Munich's Benjamin Pavard has been mooted after the Bundesliga champions signed Noussair Mazraoui from Ajax.
There were suggestions that Pavard's agent had offered both Chelsea and Manchester United the chance to sign the defender, but according to Kicker - via The Sun - he has convinced Bayern to keep him.
As a result, the 26-year-old will not be leaving the Allianz Arena this summer, as Julian Nagelsmann has been left 'so impressed' with his recent performances.
Pavard already has two goals in two games this season, scoring against RB Leipzig in the DFL-Supercup and in last week's 6-1 thumping of Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.

Meanwhile, the Nottingham Forest revolution is not slowing down anytime soon, and their search for defensive recruitments could also lead them to Stamford Bridge.
Emerson Palmieri does not appear to have a future at the club under Thomas Tuchel, with Cucurella and Ben Chilwell ahead of him in the left-wing back pecking order.
The 28-year-old performed well for Lyon during a season-long loan last year, but he has since returned to London as the Blues aim to sort out his future.
According to the Evening Standard, both Nottingham Forest and Atalanta BC are hoping to sign the Italy international, who has two years left to run on his Chelsea contract.
Tuchel has supposedly been willing to keep Emerson around, but the Chelsea boss acknowledges that the former Roma man is after consistent game time at this point in his career.

Finally, West Ham United's search for centre-back reinforcements is hotting up, with David Moyes seeing Issa Diop leave for Fulham while Nayef Aguerd remains out with a serious ankle injury.
With Craig Dawson and Angelo Ogbonna not at peak fitness either, the Hammers have been left short in the heart of defence, and a move for Everton's Michael Keane has now been mooted.
According to The Sun, West Ham approached the Toffees with a bid to sign the 29-year-old on loan for the season, but Frank Lampard's side swiftly rejected the offer.
Everton have lost Ben Godfrey to a fractured fibula against Chelsea last week, while Yerry Mina came off with an ankle injury too, so Lampard is not willing to cut down his defensive ranks.
Keane was left on the bench against Chelsea last weekend, with Mason Holgate and Ruben Vinagre coming on to replace the injured Godfrey and Mina respectively.
