Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas believes that "things will get better" for Fernando Torres, despite his goalless run of 19 games.
The £50m striker was substituted at half time in today's 1-1 draw with Birmingham City in the FA Cup fifth round.
The Portuguese manager replaced the Spanish international with Didier Drogba, citing the aim to go more direct in the second half.
When asked about Torres's reaction to being taken off, he said: "I'm sure he didn't take it lightly but it was a decision for the good of the team.
"It was a decision we had to make. We were going more direct in the second half, with Didier acting as a target man to shield the ball and do his lay offs.
"Fernando is a super talent. Things will get better for him. As the team wins he will get more confidence and as he gets more goals he will be more confident."
Chelsea next face Napoli in Italy for their Champions League last-16 tie.
