Juan Mata will provide Chelsea with more attacking options, according to manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas believes that new signing Juan Mata has provided him with more options in attack.

The Spanish World Cup winner completed his move to Stamford Bridge yesterday after Valencia and Chelsea agreed a fee on Sunday afternoon.

Villas-Boas told reporters that Mata's ability to play anywhere in the final third will make the Blues more potent up front.

"He can play right, left and through the middle. He has been tested as well in 4-4-2, not just 4-3-3 so it gives us flexibility in formation as well," Villas-Boas said in a press conference.

"He has an eye for goal and a magnificent record for assists throughout his career. Now comes one of the biggest challenges for his career now in the Premier League.

"We were looking for a player that would give us creativity in the final third, not that we don't have it, but we want always to add when you can find talent of this nature."

The 23-year-old could make his Chelsea debut against Norwich City on Saturday.
