Pat Nevin backs Ruben Loftus-Cheek to earn regular Chelsea role

Pat Nevin believes that Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be a regular member of the first team under Jose Mourinho next season.

Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin believes that young midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be a regular feature in the first team next season.

The 19-year-old impressed on his first senior start for the Blues in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Despite Chelsea being blessed with talent, Nevin is confident that the teenager will force his way into the first team under manager Jose Mourinho when they attempt to defend their Premier League title.

"Looking at next season he is very likely to be a player who will be used pretty regularly which is a great addition following the breakthrough of Kurt Zouma earlier this term," Nevin wrote on the club's official website. "It also gives a great lift to the others in the youth set up, it means that the final giant leap is possible."

Loftus-Cheek began his youth career at Chelsea in 2004.
