Jose Mourinho: 'Leicester City deserve to top Premier League'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says that Leicester City are fully deserving of first place in the Premier League table.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said that it would be "magnificent" for football if Leicester City could win the Premier League title.

The Foxes are the surprise leaders of the top flight after winning nine of their opening 15 fixtures, and Mourinho, who takes his Chelsea side to the King Power Stadium on Monday night, feels that Claudio Ranieri's team deserve their current position in the standings.

The 52-year-old told reporters: "They deserve to be where they are. I said a few weeks ago that I did not believe that they could be champions, maybe I need to reconsider. It would be something magnificent, something to impress the football world.

"They are there because they are doing well. We are where we are because we are under-performing. It is the same players and coach that we had last year."

Chelsea have won their last eight meetings against Leicester in all competitions.
