Chelsea announce that attacking midfielder Cole Palmer has signed a two-year contract extension until June 2033.

Chelsea have announced that attacking midfielder Cole Palmer has signed a two-year contract extension until June 2033.

The 22-year-old joined the West Londoners from boyhood club Manchester City for a reported £42.5m last summer and enjoyed an exceptional debut campaign with the club, being named their Player of the Season as a result.

Palmer scoring 27 goals and registered 15 assists in 48 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions, netting 22 of his goals in the Premier League which was only bettered by Golden Boot winner Erling Haaland (27).

Rewarded for his impressive club form, Palmer was part of the England squad that reached the final of Euro 2024, where he scored an equaliser after coming off the substitutes' bench in the 2-1 defeat to Spain.

The versatile playmaker penned a seven-year contract when he joined Chelsea last summer, but he has now agreed fresh terms over a new-and-improved deal to keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2033.

Palmer hopes to bring "success and trophies" to Chelsea

"I'm buzzing about the new contract, as you can probably tell!" Palmer told Chelsea's official website after penning his new deal at Cobham Training Centre. "The smile hasn't left my face and I'm just really happy about it.

"I achieved a lot in my first season here, and hopefully I can continue to experience great things at this club, both on a personal level and in terms of bringing success and trophies to Chelsea.

"Since the first day I walked in the building, I've felt really good here. I've felt settled and now to know I'm going to be at Chelsea for a long time means a lot to me.

"Everyone knows it was a big move for me when I came last summer. I'd been at one place all my life, but I wanted to have a new experience, I can look back at it now and know it was the right decision. I'm happy I made the move and I'm just loving life here at Chelsea.

"The season just gone, for me personally, was amazing. I felt trusted in the team and I really enjoyed playing. It makes me excited for the season ahead and I think collectively, we can do some really good things this year."

Palmer keen to kick on under Enzo Maresca

"I'm really excited for the season now," Palmer added. "I always get that buzz when the Premier League starts again and we're heading into the new season in great spirits. We've got an exciting manager, an exciting team, and I'm just really looking forward to getting underway.

"We've got a really talented young squad. It's exciting to be a part of. We've got good players and that's what you want, to be around good players to help you develop.

"I've known the gaffer for a few years (having previously worked under Maresca in Man City's academy) and it's great to work with him again. He's an amazing coach and he goes into so much detail, so I think it can only benefit us as a team. He's a great guy as well, so I'm really looking forward to working with him."

Palmer is set to be an integral part of Maresca's first-team plans going forward and Chelsea's No.20 is expected to be involved in the club's opening Premier League game of the new season at home against Man City on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Palmer has been nominated for both the PFA Men's Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards for 2023-24, with the winner of the prestigious prize to be revealed on August 20.
