Liverpool can set a club record and equal their league winning streak over Chelsea when they lock horns with the Blues on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool will be aiming to win their opening two league fixtures in three consecutive top-flight campaigns for the first time ever when they take on Chelsea this Sunday.

The Reds have already secured their first three points of the season against newly-promoted Leeds United last weekend as a Mohamed Salah hat-trick steered the champions to a 4-3 victory at Anfield.

Should Jurgen Klopp's side take the spoils at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, Liverpool would have taken six points from six on offer in the Premier League three seasons in a row - the first time in the club's history.

The 2019-20 campaign saw Liverpool record victories over Norwich City and Southampton in the opening two gameweeks, after which Klopp's side famously kept their unbeaten run going until they were put to the sword by Watford in February.

In 2018-19, the Reds started the season with wins over West Ham United and Crystal Palace, having drawn their opening game 3-3 with Watford in the 2017-18 campaign.

Furthermore, a victory for Klopp's men would also see them record their fourth top-flight victory on the bounce over Chelsea and equal their previous record of consecutive league wins against the Blues - set between November 2010 and May 2012.

However, Chelsea have made a habit of silencing the reigning champions at Stamford Bridge, as they boast a record of 13 home league games unbeaten - seven wins and six draws - against the title holders.
