Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz says that there are "no excuses" for his sporadic form since arriving at the club.

Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz has said that there are "no excuses" for his sporadic form throughout this campaign after declaring himself fully fit having suffered from injury and illness.

The 21-year-old's progress at Stamford Bridge has been hindered after testing positive for coronavirus in November, and he was then used predominantly as a substitute, before suffering with an injury last month.

However, the German had hoped to perform better during this period and after starting successive league games for the first time since December in fixtures against Everton and Leeds United, Havertz is now looking to kick on and cement a regular place in Thomas Tuchel's starting lineup.

"The coronavirus is now over (for me) and I feel good. I had a little injury in the past few weeks but it's now time to play good," Havertz told Chelsea's official website.

"It has not been easy for me but there are no excuses. I just have to keep on working and hopefully there will be a big turnaround soon."

Since arriving from Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen for around £75m last summer, Havertz has scored just one goal and provided four assists for Chelsea in 21 league appearances.
