Guus Hiddink: 'We played with pride'

Interim Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink praises his side for playing with "pride" in their defeat of Bournemouth.

Interim Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has praised his side for playing with "pride" in their 4-1 defeat at Bournemouth this afternoon.

The Blues are out of contention for a European place this season but moved up to ninth in the Premier League courtesy of the victory, which also saw Eden Hazard finally break his goalscoring duck with a brace at Dean Court.

"[It was] very pleasing. [There was] nothing at stake but we talked about our pride and how we like to play football and I think we showed it," Hiddink told Sky Sports News after the match.

"Both teams made an entertaining game with chances at both sides. Second half we changed some positions and controlled from there on, a less open game but from our side a very attack-orientated game and it was very enjoyable to watch.

"We didn't want the season to fade away, that's not what we want and that's why we talked and practised a lot for this game. Our pride and the pride of the club is at stake, and they responded very well."

Chelsea are next in league action when they welcome title-chasing Tottenham Hotspur to Stamford Bridge on Monday, May 2.
