Chelsea coach Rui Faria given six-match stadium ban by FA

Chelsea assistant manager Rui Faria is given a six-match stadium ban by the FA for his aggressive touchline behaviour against Sunderland

The Football Association have announced that Chelsea assistant manager Rui Faria has been punished with a six-match stadium ban for his aggressive touchline behaviour against Sunderland.

Jose Mourinho's right-hand man was charged with two counts of improper conduct after confronting referee Mike Dean during the Blues' 2-1 defeat last month.

Faria, who was eventually sent to the stands, had to be restrained by Mourinho on the touchline when he angrily confronted the match official after Sunderland were awarded a penalty, which Fabio Borini scored to win the game.

Faria, who has also been fined £30,000, admitted the charges, but requested a non-personal hearing, which was carried out today.

A statement from the FA said: "The first breach was that Faria used abusive and/or insulting words towards the fourth official during Chelsea's game against Sunderland on April 19, 2014.

"The second breach was that his behaviour following the match referee's request that he leave the technical area amounted to improper conduct. Faria was also fined £30,000 and warned as to his future conduct."

Mourinho was also charged for his post-match comments, but is waiting to discover his fate after denying the breach.
