Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association following his red-card offence against Everton in the FA Cup quarter-finals at the weekend.
The Spain international was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in his side's 2-0 defeat to the Toffees at Goodison Park.
Costa sparked controversy after he appeared to bite Gareth Barry in the neck before leaving the pitch, but the Everton midfielder has denied that his opponent committed such an act.
The FA has also asked the forward to explain an alleged gesture that he made towards Everton fans while leaving the field at half time.
Costa has until 6pm on Thursday, March 17 to respond to the charge.
