Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo will play his strongest team against Liverpool tonight after slip-ups from Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United on Sunday kept the Blues' top-four hopes alive.

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has reportedly abandoned plans to rest his star players at Anfield this evening.

With a top-four finish previously seeming unattainable, the Italian had been expected to field an under-strength team for the Premier League clash with Liverpool in an attempt to keep his players fresh for the Champions League final on May 19.

However, after Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United both failed to win on Sunday, the Blues could still finish fourth in the Premier League table if they claim maximum points from their remaining two games and their two rivals fail to win on the final day.

While victory against Bayern Munich in the UEFA showpiece would guarantee Champions League football at Stamford Bridge next season, Di Matteo does not wish to gamble his side's future on one match and will now commit all of his squad's resources into their final two domestic fixtures, according to The Sun.

Tonight's game will be Chelsea's 59th of the 2011-12 season.
