Chelsea's interim coach Eddie Newton reveals that the club are aiming to secure a fourth-place finish in the Premier League this season.

Eddie Newton has revealed that Chelsea are targeting a fourth-place finish in the Premier League this season.

The former Chelsea midfielder revealed the club's ambition following his appointment to the coaching staff under interim manager Roberto Di Matteo until the end of the season.

Finishing in the top four will see Chelsea qualify for next season's Champions League.

"The ambition is to get fourth place," he told Sky Sports News. "We will push as hard as possible to get it. Every game is important until the end of the season."

Di Matteo and Newton's first game in charge of the Blues is an FA Cup replay against Birmingham City tomorrow evening.
