Chelsea doc Eva Carneiro 'grateful for support following Jose Mourinho criticism'

Chelsea physiotherapist Eva Carneiro thanks fans for their support after she was criticised by manager Jose Mourinho.

Chelsea team physiotherapist Eva Carneiro has expressed gratitude towards fans for showing their support after she was criticised by manager Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese coach slammed his medical staff for treating Eden Hazard after he suffered a knock in the closing stages of the Blues' season opener against Swansea City.

Mourinho said after his side's 2-2 draw on Saturday that the medics were wrong to take Hazard aside as the Belgian did not have a serious problem.

Earlier in the second half, Chelsea went down to 10 men after goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was sent off for bringing down Bafetimbi Gomis in the penalty area.

According to Goal.com, following Mourinho's comments, Carneiro took to Facebook to write: "I would like to thank the general public for their overwhelming support. Really very much appreciated."

Chelsea's next game is against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
