Andre Villas-Boas says that the controversy surrounding an interview by Fernando Torres has been resolved.

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has said that the interview controversy surrounding striker Fernando Torres has been resolved.

Torres was this week quizzed by Chelsea over a Spanish interview in which he appeared to criticise his teammates.

"The investigation is over, the problem has been solved," Villas-Boas said after Chelsea’s 2-0 Champions League win over Leverkursen last night.

"We had a chat and you all saw how the player reacted with a good collective performance."

Torres set up goals from David Luiz and Juan Mata in the match, but Villas-Boas said that the £50m striker will still have to compete for a start in Chelsea’s visit to Manchester United on Sunday, September 18.

"We have another couple of days to train and Torres will compete with the other four strikers for that position," Villas-Boas said.

Chelsea currently sit in third place in the Premier League, two points off leaders Manchester United.
