How Chelsea could line up against Cardiff City

Sports Mole looks at how Chelsea could line up for their Premier League trip to Cardiff City on Sunday afternoon.

Chelsea will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon when they take on Cardiff City in South Wales.

The Blues suffered a 2-0 loss at Everton in their most recent outing, making it four defeats in five top-flight away fixtures this calendar year.

Cardiff have a decent home record, meanwhile, collecting 71% of their 28 league points there this season, and they head into the match on the back of a morale-boosting 2-0 victory over West Ham United three weeks ago.

Ahead of Chelsea's trip to the Welsh capital, Sports Mole looks at how they could line up.

Maurizio Sarri has no fresh injury concerns on the back of the two-week international break, leaving only Ampadu and Van Ginkel - neither of whom would have featured in South Wales - on the sidelines.

Fringe players Zappacosta and Loftus-Cheek will also undergo late fitness tests and could be included in the matchday squad.

A number of first-team stars have spent the past fortnight training at Chelsea's Cobham training base, including the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Pedro, Willian, Gonzalo Higuain and Marcos Alonso.

Each of those are in contention to start on Sunday, though Sarri must decide between Pedro and Willian on the opposite flank to Eden Hazard, who has scored five Premier League goals in three appearances against Cardiff, each of those at Stamford Bridge.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is unlikely to be handed a first Premier League start, despite impressing for England, but Ross Barkley should get the nod alongside Jorginho and N'Golo Kante after hitting a good run of form.
