Fernando Torres says that Chelsea must play better despite beating Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has insisted that his side must do better despite beating Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The European champions secured a 3-2 victory over the Ukrainians at Stamford Bridge thanks to a stoppage-time header from Victor Moses.

Despite winning the match, Torres feels that the Blues must improve on their performance.

"I'm happy with the result but we know we must do much better," said Torres.

"We know we have to improve. We have been creating problems for them, pressing and creating chances from their mistakes, but not when we have the ball like we're used to.

"This kind of situation cannot happen again because, especially in the Champions League, at times like these you can be out."

Chelsea host Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.
