Jose Mourinho unhappy with Paris Saint-Germain's Eden Hazard treatment

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho slams PSG's hostile treatment of Eden Hazard after he was fouled nine times during their Champions League last 16 first leg.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has slammed Paris Saint-Germain's hostile treatment of Eden Hazard during their Champions League last 16 first leg.

The Belgian was fouled a season-high nine times during the 1-1 draw at the Parc des Princes, in which Edinson Cavani cancelled out Branislav Ivanovic's opener.

Mourinho has previously raised concerns over the overly-physical approach taken against Hazard domestically and feels that referees need to do more to protect him.

"In England you like to bring up some other discussions, but this point is important because of what happened," he said in his post-match press conference.

"For example, what happened with [Marco] Verratti. If [Hazard's] another player, he dives, stays on the floor, rolls in the grass, screams. He's asking for cards and cards and cards. This kid Hazard is pure. When he goes to the floor it is for a reason and there were nine fouls on him.

"In the Premier League it's no different. For example at Stoke, which was an unbelievable situation, and this is what happens game after game."

Asked how Hazard should be protected, Mourinho added: "Give cards to the opponents, follow the rules of the game. It's as simple as that."

The 24-year-old playmaker is the most fouled player in both the Premier League and Champions League this season.
